You are worth giving thanks for

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! My favorite holiday is Christmas so I am more than excited to say welcome to December! Very soon we will be wishing each other a Happy New Year. Time is flying and we just need to make sure we are not left behind. What were you thankful for last Thursday? This past week I heard many people say they were thankful for their significant other, their kids, their job, their friends, the riches they have gathered in life but not thankful for the most prized gift: themselves. It is ok to feel like you are the luckiest person in the world because of everything and everyone surrounding you but too many times, we diminish our own value.
It is from your upbringing you will draw the best way you want to raise your family, it is from your trials and tribulations you will learn how to navigate the next bump in life, from your past relationships you will learn how you want to be treated – and treat your partner, from your failed interviews you will learn how to conduct yourself during the next job hunt, from your praise and worship you will learn the best way is with Him. Picture yourself as the main ingredient to a recipe – funny I would use this analogy, as I cannot cook to save my life. But, any main ingredient cannot be substituted; you can add different spices – your friends; mix it in a different pot – your current situation; cook it at a different temperature – your mindset; truth remains, you as the main ingredient is the constant, most significant part so why would you not want to praise it and be thankful for it everyday.
You ever looked back and be surprised at your own strength? Situations you never thought you would survive, friends/romantic partners you never thought would leave your side, parents/kids you dream would live forever. Life is already hard; help yourself a little bit by enjoying and celebrating your present self on a daily basis. We tend to give so much credit to another human being. You are your own best gift and reward. Being thankful for yourself does not diminish your gratitude for the people in your life. We should not learn to love anyone else until we have learned self-love. Personally, I am thankful for my resilience, my journey, I am thankful for me.
You have been through enough baby girl. Be thankful for your journey. Know your value and add tax to it!
